Nashville’s Meant To Eat Nutrition Counseling is hiring a Family Nurse Practitioner! We are looking for a warm, hands-on clinician who has a heart for helping individuals heal their relationship with food, body, and exercise while providing specialized medical care within an eating disorder treatment setting.
Meant To Eat Nutrition Counseling is a private practice in Nashville, TN, specializing in the treatment of disordered eating, eating disorders, compulsive exercise, and body image concerns.
You’ll feel great in this position if you're passionate about eating disorder treatment, practice from a weight-inclusive and patient-centered lens, are highly organized and an excellent communicator, and can work autonomously while also collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary treatment team. This role focuses on medical monitoring, assessment, and management of eating disorders and related mental health concerns and is not intended to replace a client's primary care provider. This is an independent contractor position that can begin part-time and grow into a full-time caseload, with a flexible hybrid schedule that includes both in-person and telehealth appointments.

Responsibilities and Job Tasks

  • Conduct comprehensive medical, psychiatric and psychosocial assessments for individuals with eating disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions
  • Diagnose and manage eating disorders within scope of practice
  • Monitoring and assessing medical stability, including performing vital signs, ordering and reviewing laboratory results, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and other relevant clinical indicators
  • Evaluate and manage risks associated with eating disorders, including malnutrition, significant weight changes, compensatory behaviors, self-harm, suicidality
  • Develop, document, and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
  • Prescribe and manage medications as appropriate
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with dietitians, therapists, primary care providers, psychiatrists, and other treatment team members
  • Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and CPT coding for appointments in accordance with professional and legal standards
  • Coordinate consultations, scheduling, Meant To Eat team meetings, and other caseload management
  • Provide referrals and coordinate care with outside providers and community resources when clinically indicated
  • Maintain professional boundaries and uphold ethical standards of practice
  • Supper a weight-inclusive, compassionate, recovery-oriented treatment environment


NOTE: This is not a primary care role. This role is to provide medical monitoring specific to the eating disorder exclusively and will not offer sick visits to clients. All clients/patients require a primary care provider in addition to receiving eating disorder medical monitoring at Meant To Eat Nutrition Counseling.
